Easy Hide IP VPN Review 2023: Is it worth a try?

Easy Hide IP is a VPN service operated by Edelino Commerce Inc. (which also owns Anonine VPN, FrootVPN, and BoxVPN) and is based in Seychelles. The VPN has been around since 2009, and just like its name suggests, it’s primary focus is helping users spoof their IP address. This can be for anonymity, accessing geo-restricted content, or bypassing government censorships, among other reasons.
Before we get started, here are some of the VPN’s highlights:
- Based in Seychelles
- 150+ servers in 26 countries
- Native VPN client for Windows (only)
- Limited features
Right off the bat, you can see that Easy Hide IP VPN isn’t on the level of the top VPN providers such as ExpressVPN or NordVPN. Nevertheless, we’ll look at the VPN in more detail to help you assess whether it is worth a try. The information provided here is first-hand, and it has been obtained from our extensive testing and research.
What can Easy Hide IP do?
Easy Hide IP is a decent VPN service in that it lets users browse anonymously and secure their data and devices. The VPN’s anonymity is enhanced by the fact that users can choose the frequency of their IP address changes, and they can even choose the specific IP address they want to use.
Easy Hide IP also offers a modest server network that allows users to access geo-restricted services. There’s a UK server dedicated to unblocking the BBC iPlayer, and two US servers meant to help users unblock Netflix US. While testing the VPN, we were able to unblock BBC iPlayer.
We were also successful in unblocking Netflix US, although the speeds can be quite low if you are not in North America.
Further, Netflix was a matter of trial and error, and you can only access Netflix US. If you are looking for the best VPN for Netflix, it would be wiser to look at either ExpressVPN or Surfshark. These two help users unblock 10+ Netflix catalogs, and they also provide Smart DNS services that let users unblock content on devices such as Smart TVs without losing any speeds.
Is Easy Hide IP Secure?
For the most part, Yes. The VPN doesn’t have any major red flags in terms of security or privacy, but below is a detailed look at its privacy and security measures.
Privacy
Easy Hide VPN is based in Seychelles, and it's subject to the country's friendly privacy laws. This gives it an edge over VPNs based in regions where governments force ISPs to record and keep logs.
To maximize user privacy, Easy Hide IP states that:
We NEVER keep online activity logs or store private information about individual user activities on our network. Information regarding payments may be logged, as per payment processor regulations.
This a good privacy policy, although it does not explicitly state that the VPN doesn’t keep connection stamps/ logs. Authorities can always use such information to link certain activities to a particular user. Further, Easy Hide IP states that they may provide any necessary information to authorities if requested.
Apart from that, we were glad to see that Easy Hide IP does not leak IP or DNS addresses.
However, it’s still important to note that unlike most top VPNs, Easy Hide IP does not have IP & DNS Leak Prevention features.
Security
Easy Hide IP doesn’t give much information about the security standards the VPN uses. They however state that they use the Blowfish algorithm to secure data when you are connected to their servers.
This information is barely enough to judge the VPN’s security. On top of that, Blowfish is not a popular encryption standard among VPNs as it’s not as secure as AES. When you add this to the fact that the VPN doesn’t reveal anything about data authentication and control authorization, it’s safe to say that Easy Hide IP isn’t the most secure option if you deal with sensitive information.
Easy Hide IP Features
Easy Hide IP doesn’t boast advanced features such as an ad and malware blocker. However, the VPN still offers some decent functionalities.
Multiple Protocols
The VPN allows you to choose a protocol that best suits your needs in terms of speed, security, and features. Below is a highlight of the protocols offered.
- Classic Protocol: Classic is Easy Hide IP’s proprietary protocol, and it can be used within the VPN’s Windows client app. The protocol’s biggest advantage is that it allows users to access advanced security and protection features. However, it’s a bit slow.
- OpenVPN-UDP (User Datagram Protocol): OpenVPN-UDP is the most used protocol in the VPN industry as it provides a great balance between speed and security. Its only disadvantage is that it can be less reliable as it does not guarantee packet delivery.
- OpenVPN-TCP (Transmission Control Protocol): OpenVPN-TCP is more reliable than the UDP version. However, it can be quite slow as the network waits for confirmation that sent packets have been delivered.
- Point-to-point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP): PPTP is included in most VPNs as it provides the fastest speeds. However, the protocol is not secure enough, and so it should only be used for tasks such as streaming.
Out of all these, Easy Hide IP recommends OpenVPN-UDP.
Split Tunneling
Easy Hide IP provides split tunneling functionality when you are using their proprietary protocol, Classic. Split tunneling allows users to select the specific applications that they’d like to encrypt with the VPN. For example, you can set your torrent client to be tunneled through the VPN while leaving out the browser and other applications.
IP Changer
This is one of Easy Hide IP’s best features, and it plays right into the name of the VPN. The feature allows users to select a duration after which the app will automatically change their IP address. You can select from a period of 1 minute to 12 hours. Note that just like split tunneling, this feature only works when you select the Classic protocol.
Kill Switch
Easy Hide IP provides a kill switch as a privacy and security measure for users. This feature works by dropping all internet connection when your VPN disconnects. The kill switch is quite useful, especially for users who like to torrent as it prevents any potential exposure.
Unlimited IP Switching
Easy IP Hide doesn’t limit IP address switching, and so you can change your address as many times as you want. You can choose an IP address from a drop-down menu below each server.
P2P & Torrenting
The VPN allows P2P and torrenting on their servers. There are no marked Easy Hide IP torrent servers, and so you can just connect to any. For torrenting, they advise that you use the OpenVPN-UDP protocol. It’s also important to turn on the kill switch to prevent potential exposure.
Easy IP Hide Server Network
Easy IP Hide has a server network consisting of 150+ servers spread across 26 countries and using 5,000+ IP addresses. This is quite a small server network, especially when you compare it with NordVPN which has 5400+ servers in 59 countries.
Nevertheless, the available servers are well spread across the world. The VPN's website usually provides real-time information on the status of all the servers, their load, and their uptime. You can also ping a server on the website and determine the best connection.
Pricing & Plans
Easy Hide IP offers three plans, whose difference is only the subscription period. Below is a breakdown of the plans:
- 1 Month Plan: Costs $11.95, billed monthly.
- 1 Year Plan: Costs $47.4, which is equivalent to $3.95. It’s billed annually.
- 2 Year Plan: Costs $66.49, which is equivalent to $2.77 a month. It’s billed every two years.
As you can see from the above, the annual and biennial plans are well priced. However, the monthly plan is quite expensive, and it costs the same as that of NordVPN. According to data from Wayback Machine, the plan’s pricing seems to have almost doubled at around October 2020, while the other plans were not affected. Before that, the plan cost just $5.95. A strategy to lure users into longer commitments, maybe?
Payment Methods
Easy Hide IP offers a variety of payment methods. We were glad to see cryptocurrency is one of them as it helps users pay anonymously and reduce the amount of information they give out. Other accepted payment methods are credit cards, PayPal, and Perfect Money.
Does Easy Hide IP have a Free Trial?
Easy Hide IP free trial is no longer on offer, but you can check out other VPNs that have a free trial. As a trial opportunity, the VPN offers a 7-day money-back guarantee. If you find that the Easy Hide IP VPN full version is not satisfactory, you can request a refund from the VPN's representatives.
Getting started with Easy Hide IP
To get started, you need to create an account on the official website. After you click “Order Now,” you will get a page where you can choose a subscription plan, enter your email address, and select a payment method.
Once your payment goes through, you will then be asked to choose a username and a password. From there, you can then log in to your account. On the dashboard, you will have an option to install or configure the VPN.
What Devices & Platforms Does Easy Hide IP VPN support?
We were disappointed to find that Easy-Hide-IP VPN only offers a client for Windows. To set up the VPN on other devices, you will have to do so manually. The VPN provides guides for installing the VPN on Mac, Android, iOS, and DD-WRT routers.
For this Easy Hide IP VPN review, we downloaded the provided Windows app and installed it on a PC. The Easy Hide IP download file is quite small (less than 10 MB), and it takes about 2 minutes to install. If your device doesn’t have TAP drivers, you will also be prompted to install them.
However, you will also be required to restart your PC. This is quite annoying as most VPNs can be used immediately after installing.
To log in, you won’t need an Easy Hie IP license key, as the app allows you to use your account details. We were able to login without any issues, and below is the VPN’s home page.
You can easily connect to a server using the Quick Connect button. You can also specify the country you want to connect to, as well as the VPN protocol. Selecting Classic protocol gives you an extra drop-down menu where you can select the IP changing duration.
To customize your connection, you can go to the settings page by clicking the settings button on the top right side. In the settings tab, you can determine how the app behaves, turn on the kill switch, and set split tunneling apps.
Once you are satisfied with the connection settings, you can then choose a server and select a specific IP address if you wish to. You can then click the Connect button, and the app will establish your connection.
Since the Easy Hide IP Android, iOS, Mac, and Linux apps are not available, you will have to rely on the guides provided to set up the VPN on others platforms.
How fast is Easy Hide IP?
While doing this Easy Hide IP VPN review, we conducted several speed tests to get an idea of how fast the VPN is. To do this, we first did a base test and then tested multiple nearby servers (same country) and distant servers (different continents).
When connecting to servers within the same country, we noticed a speed drop of about 15% to 30%. We then recorded an average speed drop of about 30% to 50% when connected to distant servers. The upload speeds were the worst hit.
Easy Hide IP Customer Support
Easy Hide IP provides live chat support. However, the support in not 24/7, and you will often find the chat option saying that the team is away. If you leave a message, they often respond within a few hours, although it can take as long as a day before you get a reply.
Apart from the chat and ticket system, Easy Hide IP provides set up guides, troubleshooting guides, a knowledge base, and FAQs. These are however somehow shallow and are not updated frequently.

Summary
From this Easy Hide IP review, we can say that the VPN is an average product. Easy Hide IP provides decent speeds, and the fact that it has dedicated Netflix US servers and supports torrenting can be a huge appeal to many.
However, many other users will be turned off by the fact that apart from Windows, you have to configure the VPN manually. Its high price for the 1-month subscription is also not justified, although you can get good value from the longer subscription plans. But if ease of use and compatibility is important to you, you may need to look beyond Easy Hide IP.
